'BlacKkKlansman' Earns Spike Lee First Oscar Nomination for Best Director

Lee has previously been nominated twice at the Oscars for best screenplay and best documentary, for 1990's 'Do the Right Thing' and 1998's '4 Little Girls,' respectively. 'BlacKkKlansman' is based on the true story of black detective Ron Stallworth, who successfully infiltrated a local Ku Klux Klan chapter in Colorado
in the 1970s. 'BlacKkKlansman' scored five other nominations, including best picture. Cast member Adam Driver also earned his first Oscar nomination in the best supporting actor category.
