While in NYC to promote his sixth album, Toro y Moi stopped by to tell The FADER about his early love for The Beach Boys — which is attributed to his dad, an appreciation for the lighthearted side of skate videos, the struggle of having an afro at a fast food restaurant, the endearing flaws of his '91 Chevy station wagon, and the visual appeal in the artwork for The Beatles' 'Yellow Submarine' and The Ohio Players' albums. He closes out this episode of 'First Times' by sketching out what was going on in his head when he listened to J Dilla's 'Donuts.'
