President Trump on Tuesday blamed rude and inaccurate press coverage for White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders’ absence at the podium in the recent past.

President Trump on Tuesday blamed rude and inaccurate press coverage for White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders' absence at the podium over the past weeks. "The reason Sarah Sanders does not go to the 'podium' much anymore is that the press covers her so rudely & inaccurately, in particular certain members of the press," Trump said in a tweet. "I told her not to bother, the word gets out anyway! Most will never cover us fairly & hence, the term, Fake News!"  His message follows an ABC News report about Sanders' breaking a Trump White House record for longest span between on-camera press briefings.  According to the network, as of Friday, 31 days had passed since she last took the podium.
ABC noted that her last appearance was on December 18, the day before "the White House announced Trump wouldn't accept any funding bill without money for a wall, setting the stage for the partial government shutdown that has roiled Washington…and left 800,000 government employees either working without pay or furloughed."'
