Trump Teases 'Major Announcement' On Shutdown, Border Security

President Trump on Friday tweeted he'll make a "major announcement" on border security.

As the partial government shutdown continues with no end in sight, President Trump took to Twitter on Friday and wrote he'll be making a significant announcement.
"I will be making a major announcement concerning the Humanitarian Crisis on our Southern Border, and the Shutdown, tomorrow afternoon at 3 P.M., live from the @WhiteHouse," Trump tweeted.
When asked if the president's announcement will entail declaring a national emergency over the border wall construction, White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders said she didn't want to get ahead of Trump's remarks and suggested "everybody tune in."
The shutdown is now the longest in US history and has left hundreds of thousands of government workers without pay. At issue for Trump is $5.7 billion in funding for the wall along the southern US border.
"Democrats in the newly-elected 116th Congress sworn in this month have refused to meet the president's demands while Trump has threatened to keep the government closed for months or even 'years' to secure the border wall money," notes The Hill.
