Trump Doubles Down: Why Should Pelosi Go 'On A Seven Day Excursion' When 800,000 Federal Workers Are Not Getting Paid?

President Trump on Friday doubled down on his decision to deny Nancy Pelosi a military plane for her overseas trip.

President Trump has doubled down on his decision to cancel House Speaker Nancy Pelosi's overseas trip, which included visiting troops in Afghanistan.  "Why would Nancy Pelosi leave the Country with other Democrats on a seven day excursion when 800,000 great people are not getting paid," Trump wrote in a Friday tweet. "Also, could somebody please explain to Nancy & her 'big donors' in wine country that people working on farms (grapes) will have easy access in!"  Trump pulled the plug on Pelosi's trip by grounding the military flight waiting to take her and other senior members of Congress to their destination, reports the New York Times. He said in a letter on Thurs: "In light of the 800,000 great American workers not receiving pay, I am sure you would agree that postponing this public relations event is totally appropriate. I also feel that, during this period, it would be better if you were in Washington negotiating with me and joining the strong border security movement to end the [partial government] shutdown."  Quartz reports that just hours after Trump pulled Pelosi's military transportation, first lady Melania Trump boarded a government plane headed for Palm Beach, Florida.
