According to Reuters, five people have died in severe rain and snowstorms that hit parts of California. Five feet of snow was dumped in the Sierra Nevada mountains, leading to flooding and mudslides. Authorities say rain-slicked highways led to two fatal car accidents that killed four. Forecasters expect the nasty weather to push eastwards through the weekend.
