ISLAMABAD: The federal cabinet will meet today (Thursday) in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, ARY News reported.

The cabinet will take up a 17-point agenda which includes the issue of exclusion of names from the Exit Control List (ECL).

Earlier, on Jan 10, the federal cabinet deferred a decision on whether or not to remove the names of PPP Chairman Bilawal Bhutto Zardari and Sindh Chief Minister Murad Ali Shah from the Exit Control List (ECL).

The cabinet, which met in Islamabad with Prime Minister Imran Khan in the chair, discussed the issue of fake accounts and money laundering and decided to wait for the Supreme Court’s written order with regard to removal of certain names from the ECL.

A day earlier, the SC issued a written order, stating that the names of the PPP chairman and the chief minister be removed from the ECL for the time being.

Justice Ijazul Ahsan of the SC wrote the 25-page verdict.

“The NAB investigation has pointed towards heinous crimes. The anti-graft body should take action on recommendations of the Joint Investigation Team (JIT),” the judgement read. “The Sindh CM’s name in the ECL will create hurdle in his work as it will restrict his movement.”

“NAB should continue investigation against Murad and Bilawal though, and if it has evidence against them, it should contact the federation,” it added.
