‘Shoplifters’ Wins Big At Palm Springs International Film Festival

SF Gate reports that Hirokazu Kore-eda’s film “Shoplifters” won the Palm Springs International Film Festival’s Best Foreign Language Film of the Year. The 2018 Japanese drama written and directed by Hirokazu Kore-eda stars Lily Franky and Sakura Ando. The film focuses on a poor Japanese family that relies on shoplifting to cope with their dire situation. The film premiered in May of 2018 at the Cannes Film Festival, where it went on to win the Palme d'Or.
