The iconic design couple Charles and Ray Eames are best known as “the chair people,” but they created a variety of lesser-known innovations during their lives. In 1949, the couple built the famous Eames house which was used as a live/work space. According to Lifehacker, the house was mostly constructed out of found objects and utilized their own manufacturing techniques that had been used in World War II. The couple remained in that home for the rest of their lives.
