Vatican launches athletics team, targets making Olympics
  • 5 years ago
Watch out,… nuns might soon be on the run.
Ironic as it sounds, the Vatican has launched an athletics team to compete in international competitions,… possibly even the Olympics.
Launched on Thursday, the running club consists of some 60 members, including soldiers from the Swiss Guard, priests, nuns,... and even a 62-year old professor who works in the Vatican's Library.
The Holy See aims to promote sport as an instrument for dialogue, peace and solidarity.
It could be a while before the Vatican's yellow and white flag flutters over the Olympics,... but the team will make their debut in a 10-kilometer race in Rome on January 20th.
