Lohri Festival History: लोहड़ी का त्यौहार इस बार 13 जनवरी को, जानिए कैसे हुई शुरुआत | Boldsky

The history of Lohri, a seasonal festival of North India is as old as that of story of Indus Valley civilization itself. The Festival of Lohri marks the beginning of the end of winter and the coming of spring and the new year. The fires lit at night, the hand warming, the song and dance and the coming together of an otherwise atomized community, are only some of the features of this festival.

बैसाखी त्यौहार की तरह लोहड़ी का सबंध भी पंजाब के गांव, फसल और मौसम से है। इस दिन से मूली और गन्ने की फसल बोई जाती है। इससे पहले रबी की फसल काटकर घर में रख ली जाती है। खेतों में सरसों के फूल लहराते दिखाई देते हैं। लोहड़ी के दिन विशेष पकवान बनते हैं जिसमें गजक, रेवड़ी, मुंगफली, तिल- गुड़ के लड्डू, मक्का की रोटी और सरसों का साग प्रमुख होते हैं। लोहड़ी से कुछ दिन पहले से ही छोटे बच्चे लोहड़ी के गीत गाकर लोहड़ी हेतु लकड़ियां, मेवे, रेवडियां, मूंगफली इकट्ठा करने लग जाते हैं। पंजाबियों के लिए लोहड़ी उत्सव खास महत्व रखता है।
