Saw Biggest Rise in 8 Years A preliminary estimate published
by the Rhodium Group on Tuesday
reports a 2018 rise of 3.4%. Emissions declined
in each of the
previous three years. The report ties
U.S. carbon emissions
to strong economic growth. Industrial emissions
were up by 5.7% in 2018. Even though one sixth
of U.S. emissions are
due to the industrial sector, The report highlights difficulties
the U.S. faces curbing its carbon
emissions in the wake of
a strengthening economy. Carbon emissions
remain down by 11%
compared to 2005 levels.
