Sarah Sanders announced Monday that President Trump will travel to the southern border on Thursday.

White House press secretary Sarah Huckabee Sanders announced on Monday that President Trump is planning to take a trip to the US-Mexico border.  She tweeted: "President @realDonaldTrump will travel to the Southern border on Thursday to meet with those on the frontlines of the national security and humanitarian crisis. More details will be announced soon."  The news comes as Trump remains committed to continuing the government shutdown until he is given $5.7 billion of funding for his wall, notes the Washington Post.
"The Democrats could solve the Shutdown problem in a very short period of time," he tweeted Saturday. "All they have to do is approve REAL Border Security (including a Wall), something which everyone, other than drug dealers, human traffickers and criminals, want very badly! This would be so easy to do!" With Democrats appearing unlikely to approve the funds, the president has suggested that he might acquire them through other means, such as declaring a national emergency.
