According to the belief, there was a battle for the whole twelve days in the dev-demons for getting nectar, but in the earth folk, one day of paradise is considered to be equal to one year. Hence the Aquarius also contains twelve. Four of them are on earth, and the remaining eight are feathered in Devlok. Humans do not have the right to celebrate eight other elephants. This pumpkin can be celebrated only in which the power and achievement of the gods is attained. This is the reason that the remaining eight Kumbh are celebrated only in Devlok.

मान्यता के अनुसार अमृत प्राप्ति के लिए देव-दानवों में पूरे बारह दिन तक युद्ध हुआ था, लेकिन पृथ्वी लोक में स्वर्ग लोक का एक दिन एक साल के बराबर माना जाता है। इसलिए कुंभ भी बारह होते हैं। उनमें से चार कुंभ पृथ्वी पर होते हैं और शेष आठ कुंभ देवलोक में होते हैं। मनुष्य जाति को अन्य आठ कुंभ मनाने का अधिकार नहीं है। यह कुंभ वही मना सकता है जिसमें देवताओं के समान शक्ति एवं यश प्राप्त हो। यही कारण है कि शेष आठ कुंभ केवल देवलोक में ही मनाए जाते हैं।
