World’s tallest power towers
The world’s tallest power-transmission towers were getting their final check in China’s eastern Zhejiang province on January 6, 2019.
The towers are 380 metres (1,247 feet) tall and used to suspend power cables across a 1.7km (1 mile) wide channel between coastal islands.
Built at a cost of 462 million yuan (US$67 million), the pylons are designed to boost the power supply and improve the reliability of electricity service to nearby Zhoushan city.
