French Authorities Call For Respect Of The Law During Protests

CNN reports French authorities asked for calm on Saturday as gilet jaunes, or "yellow vest," protests continued. According to Interior Minister Christophe Castaner, about 50,000 people demonstrated across Paris, Bordeaux and Marseille. Police said at least 24 people were taken in for questioning in Paris. A government spokesman said that he and his team had to evacuate his office after demonstrators broke into his courtyard. The protestors are against President Emmanuel Macron and his government. Castaner said on Twitter, "I call on everybody to be responsible and respect the rule of law.
