President Trump has reportedly referred to the ongoing partial government shutdown as a "strike."
According to the Wall Street Journal, he made the comment during a meeting with congressional leaders Friday, telling them "he didn't like the word shutdown and preferred the word 'strike,' one of the people said."
"Trump also kicked off the meeting with a profanity laden opening salvo lasting more than 15 minutes in which he made it clear that he had no plans to move on from his demand for $5.6 billion to build a border wall, according to a person familiar with the meeting," CNN noted.
The Daily Beast has since pointed out that numerous federal employees are working but not getting paid which is, in effect, "the opposite of a strike."
Trump met with Nancy Pelosi, Chuck Schumer, and other leaders to discuss ways to end the shutdown which began on December 22 after lawmakers failed to agree on border wall funding.
