Sinks merge style and utility
Traditionally, sinks have been more about utility, but today's manufacturers are turning to unique materials and designs. The modern farmhouse sink has made its way into the kitchen with its apron front. Italian sink designer and manufacturer Bocchi recently entered the U.S. market with the fireclay sink that is naturally chip and stain resistant. Sink color has veared away from white. Kohler’s Cairn collection comes in matte brown, taupe, gray, graphite and black. Accessories such as colanders, cutting boards and basin racks are an expectation, not an add-on. Single basins make it easier to wash larger pots and pans, but some people still prefer double-basin sinks. While there are some popular top-mounted sinks, the undermounted sink is preferred.
