South Korea's National Security Council says 2019 will be critical to solving the denuclearization issue and establishing peace on the Korean Peninsula.
Chaired by National Security Advisor Chung Eui-yong, the members reviewed the security situation in the region and said Seoul needs to take the lead in improving relations between North Korea and the U.S.
On the dispute between Seoul and Tokyo over a Japanese patrol plane's recent low-altitude flight over a South Korean naval ship,... the council vowed to take steps, if needed,... against what could be a serious violation of safety protocols or -- even a threat from Japan.
