The National Assembly is grilling senior members of the Moon administration for allegedly ordering the illegal surveillance of civilians for political purposes.
Lawmakers are questioning Presidential Chief of Staff, Im Jong-seok,... and his senior secretary for civil affairs, Cho Kuk, about their alleged involvement in a scandal sparked by a special inspector from the prosecution, who claimed he illegally gathered information about civilians while working for the top office.
Both said there has been no such spying on their part.
Im apologized for not being able to screen out someone like the inspector in the first place.
Cho was also firm that the Moon administration did not do what it's accused of, adding that the truth will eventually be revealed through the prosecutors' investigation.
