An astrologer was brutally murdered by two people in full public view in Tamil Nadu's Tirupur. The two bike borne men arrived, attacked the man with sickles and left. People stood by and watched the murder, not intervening to help Ramesh. The victim sustained severe injuries to his neck, shoulders and face. He died on the spot before police could arrive; such acts of savagery in full public view are not infrequent. Earlier too, there have been instances when bystanders have not stepped up to help victims under such circumstances putting a big question on how sensitive and aware we are as a people.
