The Matchsellers are Warsaw, Indiana native Andrew Morris and Julie Bates of Kansas City, Missouri. Their unique, gritty, and often hilarious stage show has been developed over six years of touring across the US and Europe. They have collected influences from various regional styles of American folk music including Bluegrass, Old-Time, Hambone, Fiddlesticks, Cajun, Gospel and others. Their song “Bluegrastronauts” is a stellar interstellar story-song of science-fictionized Americana. Plus it’s got a pretty clever portmanteau title. While a focus on humor and absurdity permeates their performances, the Matchsellers are dedicated interpreters of tradition and their musicianship and songwriting are, well, um ... out of this world!
