According to CNN, the ornamental mace in the British parliament was taken in protest during a contentious hearing.
The five-foot silver-gilt mace is the ceremonial symbol of royal authority in the British House of Commons.
Without the ceremonial civic mace, the Parliament cannot greet or pass laws.
The mace was taken in protest by Lloyd Russell-Moyle, a member of Parliament with the Labour Party.
