Voyager 2 Probe
Enters Interstellar Space Scientists say the NASA
probe crossed out of the
heliosphere into interstellar
space on November 5. The heliosphere is
described as a plasma bubble
that is created by the sun. Suzanne Dodd, Voyager Project Manager, via Endgadget Launched in 1977,
Voyager 2 is now 11
billion miles from earth. On board the probe
is a Plasma Science Experiment. The instrument is designed to
take measurements of solar wind. Voyager 2 is still
considered to be
in the solar system. Scientists estimate it will
take the craft 30,000
years to exit the outer edge.
