Jharkhand: Huge medical negligence by Ranchi bloodbank

In Jharkhand’s Ranchi, HIV positive blood was detected in a blood bank. 132 children were being treated at the blood bank for Thalassemia. Out of the 132 children, 5 were detected positive for HIV and as many as 3 contracted hepatitis. Following the reports, the parents of the affected kids were also checked for the diseases but those tests were negative. This points to negligence by the blood bank and has created an uproar in the medical establishment in the city. There is so far no information on how infected blood found its way into the blood bank.
