Don't crowd footbridge, Kenya Railways tells pedestrians as Matatu CBD ban bites

Nairobi residents received a reprieve Tuesday morning as Nairobi County Governor Mike Sonko lifted a ban on matatus entering the CBD.

In the hours after the enforcement of the ban on Monday morning, residents were forced to walk for kilometres to their respective destinations.

In the evening hours however, footage of people scrambling to get off the Kenya Railways footbridge that connects Landi Mawe to the CBD emerged.

In the video, audible creaks could be heard from the old footbridge as hundreds of Nairobians made their way to various destinations.
