Lasers Could
Attract Aliens,
Says MIT Study The study, published in
'The Astrophysical Journal,' suggests that lasers
could act like a
porch light for Earth, grabbing the attention
of extraterrestrials. Researchers theorize that
creating a 1 to 2 megawatt laser
focused through a telescope could produce a light strong enough to be seen outside of the sun's rays. James Clark, graduate student at MIT, via 'USA Today' According to James Clark, a graduate student at MIT, lasers of that magnitude
already exist, but a telescope large
enough to focus the
signal does not. Clark hopes the study allows for the possibility of advancements in infrared imaging techniques. In theory, we could also detect a signal beamed from aliens to Earth. James Clark, graduate student at MIT, via 'USA Today'
