Authorities Search Offices Of Texas Catholic Archdiocese In Sex-Abuse Case

According to a report by Reuters, on Wednesday, Texas authorities searched the offices of the Roman Catholic Archdiocese of Galveston-Houston, looking for documents related to a priest who was charged in September with sex crimes. Prosecutors reportedly said that Agents of the Montgomery County District Attorney's Office, along with the Texas Rangers and the City of Conroe police, executed a search warrant to the archdiocese seeking information on Father Manuel LaRosa-Lopez, who faces four felony counts of indecency with a child. This news comes as recent investigations have uncovered decades of accusations of sexual abuse by Catholic clergy across the United States and in other countries, as well as widespread efforts to cover up the abuse.
