According to a report by Reuters, on Friday, the United States said that it would oppose for the first time an annual resolution at the United Nations calling on Israel to rescind its control of the Golan Heights, drawing praise from Israeli officials. In previous years, the US has abstained on the annual "Occupied Syrian Golan" resolution, which declares Israel's claim on the territory 'null and void.
