Japan's Cybersecurity Minister Doesn't Use Computers Yoshitaka Sakurada is the deputy chief of Japan's cybersecurity strategy office. The country's recently appointed cybersecurity official slipped, admitting he's never used a computer in his life. Sakurada, who is also the minister in charge of the 2020 Tokyo Olympic Games, in charge of overseeing cybersecurity for the games. He admitted to not being computer-literate when an opposition politician asked about whether USB drives were being used at Japanese nuclear facilities. Sakurada also said "he doesn't know the details" when asked when measures he had in place against a cyberattack on Japan's nuclear power plants. Many are concerned over how a man lacking computer skills can lead a nation's cybersecurity. Prime Minister Shinzo Abe handpicked Sakurada last month to lead Japan's cyberspace defenses and Olympic cyber-preparations.
