Sadness Circuit Is
Discovered in the
Human Brain A study published in Cell
was conducted by a team
of scientists at UC San Francisco. They found that sadness is often associated
with increased communication between parts
of the brain involved in memory and emotion. Vikaas Sohal, associate professor of psychiatry at UCSF,
via NPR 21 people awaiting
brain surgery had tiny
wires inserted into their brains. The wires allowed study doctors
to monitor the patients brain
electrical activity for up to a week. Vikaas Sohal, associate professor of psychiatry at UCSF,

understanding can lead to
treatments for depression
and other conditions. Vikaas Sohal, associate professor of psychiatry at UCSF,
