Inter-Korean summit agreement introduced to parliamentary committee
  • 5 years ago
A motion requesting the ratification of the inter-Korean summit agreement signed in April has been put on the parliament's foreign affairs and unification committee's agenda.
The government submitted the request back in September,... and under the National Assembly Act,... after 30 days, it is automatically put on the committee's agenda at its first meeting after that period,... unless rival parties agree not to do so.
The ruling Democratic Party has been calling for the swift ratification in order to enable smooth implementation of the April agreement.
However, the conservative opposition has been against the idea,... saying the exact cost of implementing the declaration has not been calculated.
