Woman and Son Register As Many Latinx Texans to Vote as Possible

Sebastian, a Texas voter, and his undocumented mother have helped to register hundreds of eligible Latinx people.

“We’ve been going to churches, fairs, and places where people would like to be registered,” he explained. “The Latino vote is gonna count more than ever. Right now, and when the next elections come.”

Sebastian’s mother Susana has lived in El Paso for 15 years, while he is a U.S. citizen.

“These elections are the future of my family and kids, in which these new representatives who get to Congress and the Senate, fight for the rights of immigrants in this country,” she explained.

Voter enthusiasm among Hispanic voters is nearly double that of any other group of American voters this election.

Even though Susana can’t vote, she and her family support Beto O’Rourke for his pro-immigration stance. She and Sebastian went into the community and knocked on doors to raise awareness and get people to vote.

“I have emotions, and I have a lot of feelings,” she stated. “And I want to take people out to vote and to have the booths be very full, and for the good ones to win.”

El Paso borders Ciúdad Juarez, one of the business border crossings in the U.S.
