Former President Obama posted a series of tweets on Monday, a day before the midterm elections.

Former President Barack Obama on Monday stressed the importance of Tuesday's midterm elections, saying that "the character of our country is on the ballot." He wrote on Twitter: "Tomorrow's elections might be the most important of our lifetimes. The health care of millions is on the ballot. Making sure working families get a fair shake is on the ballot. The character of our country is on the ballot."
"When we've been at such crossroads before, Americans have made the right choice. Not because we sat back and waited for history to happen -- but because we marched, and mobilized, and voted," Obama added.  He continued: "When you vote, you have the power to protect voting rights… you have the power to make it easier for a student to afford college, and harder for a disturbed person to shoot up a classroom."  President Trump tweeted some pre-election messages as well. His read, in part: "So funny to see the CNN Fake Suppression Polls and false rhetoric…We are lucky CNN's ratings are so low. Don't fall for the Suppression Game. Go out & VOTE....Law Enforcement has been strongly notified to watch closely for any ILLEGAL VOTING…Anyone caught will be subject to the Maximum Criminal Penalties allowed by law. Thank you!"
