Trump Says 'Two Maniacs' Stopped Republicans' Midterm Momentum

President Trump on Thursday delivered remarks at a rally in Missouri.
Alluding to the recent Pittsburgh synagogue shooting and attempted mail bombings, President Trump said on Thursday that "two maniacs" stopped GOP's midterm momentum.
"We have gotten tremendous numbers - tremendous numbers of Republicans are going out to vote," Trump stated at a rally in Columbia, Missouri. "Now, we did have two maniacs stop a momentum. That was incredible because for seven days, nobody talked about the elections that stopped a tremendous momentum."
"More importantly, we have to take care of our people and we don't care about momentum when it comes to a disgrace like just happened to our country. But it did nevertheless stop a certain momentum and now the momentum is picking up," Trump continued.
The president's remark echoed last week's tweet.
"Republicans are doing so well in early voting, and at the polls, and now this 'Bomb' stuff happens and the momentum greatly slows - news not talking politics. Very unfortunate, what is going on. Republicans, go out and vote!" Trump tweeted.
Hours before his Thursday rally, Trump told reporters that Republicans are "going to do very well" in the midterm elections.
"I think people want to see strong borders," Trump also said. "I think they want to see security. They want to see good healthcare. They want to see the things that we're providing. They don't want to have their taxes increased."
