NEDS is the story of John McGill (newcomer Conor McCarron), a school swot who becomes caught up in the dark underworld of 1970s Glasgow, a world full of knife-fights, gang wars and teenage angst (to put it lightly). And though Peter Mullan is keen to point out that it's not an autobiographic piece (it's more... "personal" than autobiographic, we're told) it does have more than a few similarities: a domineering father being just one of them. Sitting down with Mr. Mullan himself, as well as the star of the piece, Conor, Empire talks about getting a film made these days, choreographing fight scenes and Danny Dyer movies.
