From Training Days crooked cops to Tears Of The Suns secret military ops, shadowy characters with egotistical motives seem to permeate through the directors work. Take his new movie Shooter, for example. Mark Wahlberg is Bob Lee Swagger - a hotshot sniper whos abandoned by the military deep within enemy lines. When the Government comes a-calling some three years later with a proposal for the now reclusive gunman, a high-reaching web of corruption and deceit is unveiled alongside the odd major explosion or two.
