Study finds plastic particles present in poop

USA — Plastic has been found in participants' bodies after they consumed food and beverages stored in plastic wrapping, bottles and containers, according to a study presented at the United European Gastroenterology.

Scientists conducted stool testings and found up to nine different particles of plastic present in the stool samples.

The most common plastic particles found were polypropylene and polyethylene terephthalate.

Marine biologists have also found plastic particles present in the bodies of animals in the ocean, according to an article published in the journal Science.

Six of the eight participants had eaten fish from the sea and may have received the plastic from the fish they ate.

The study only included a small number of people and would need further studies to confirm the results.
