Bengaluru: Tech capital but poor waste management

BBMP has been slapped with a fine of Rs 5 crore by the national green tribunal has slapped for illegally dumping over 2.7 lakh tonnes of solid waste into the city's stone quarry pits. NGT claims that BBMP did not obtain prior environmental clearances before dumping such a huge amount of solid waste. The green watchdog has asked the city corporation to deposit environmental compensation of Rs 5 crore within 1 month with the central pollution control board.
