Reuters reports that one winning ticket for the U.S. Mega Millions lottery jackpot was sold.
Lottery officials said the prize payout was projected to be just short of a world record $1.6 billion.
The ticket, sold in South Carolina, matched the five numbers 5, 28, 62, 65, 70 and the Mega Ball 5 that were drawn on Tuesday night.
The buyer of the ticket beat improbable odds of 1 in 303 million to win the Mega Millions drawing.
The winner may opt for an immediate cash payment of $877.8 million, or $1.537 billion paid out over 29 years.
The winner of the jackpot has not yet come forward to claim their prize.
