Yemeni who lost his legs dreams of representing country in weightlifting competitions

Sana’a (Yemen), Sep 25 (EFE/EPA), (Camera: Yahya Arhab).- A Yemeni man who lost both legs 10 years ago in a car accident hopes to one day represent his country by competing in international weightlifting competitions, despite lack of funds.
Akram Abdu al-Shaabi, 28, emigrated to Saudi Arabia when he was 15 years old and found a job in agriculture. But after he was involved in a car accident in 2008 that resulted in the amputation of both legs, he was having thoughts of suicide and decided to return to his home country of Yemen.
