The head cook for the Potter-Dix School District in Nebraska was fired after serving students Kangaroo meat.

Kevin Frei, the head cook for the Potter-Dix School District in Nebraska, was recently fired after serving students kangaroo meat, reports KNEP. It had been added to a chili dish and was reportedly used due to it being lean and having high nutritional value.  In a letter to students and parents, School Superintendent Mike Williams offered assurances that kangaroo meat is perfectly safe and legal but noted: "If a family wants to eat exotic foods, they can do so on their own time - not at school."  "It is without a doubt not a normal staple of our diet and will not, nor will any other non-staple foods, be a part of the PotterDix meal program," Williams further said. He also apologized "for the anxiety and any harm that this has caused individual students and/or families."
