Colombia students stage nationwide protest to demand more budget for higher education

Students in Colombia marched in major cities to demand a US$4.5 billion riase to the country's higher education and the liquidation of prior debts on Wednesday, October 17.

The protests come as a response to recently elected president Ivan Duque, who announced a US$1 billion investment in educations during the next few years, which students claim is not enough. While spending has increased by almost three times in the last twenty years, the budget has only grown by approximately 70 percent.

This video was filmed at Plaza de Bolívar in Bogota.
