Bollywood actors and actresses replacing their colleagues in film projects is nothing new and the trend has been going on since films started getting made in India. There can be numerous reasons why the actors are replaced, sometimes the director or the producer ma feel that the role has been miscast and they scout for another actor while sometimes due to unexpected happenings or personal issues, actors can't do that film anymore.
