Weird 'Singing' Noise Coming From Antarctic Ice Shelf Recorded
  • 6 years ago
A weird "singing" sound has been recorded coming from one of Antarctica's vast ice shelves. The "song" was recorded over two years during observations of seismic changes to the Ross Ice Shelf - a slab of ice about the size of Texas. It was found to be the result of the wind blowing across the sheet, causing the ice to vibrate and produce a constant drumming sound.
