In the break-away republic of Somaliland, in the north of Somalia, hard currency is near-worthless, meaning people have to carry around large, inconvenient stacks if they want to pay with cash. As a result, many people are turning to an innovative mobile platform called Zaad in order to make their day-to-day payments.
