A 2-month-old meerat looks so cute that everyone wants to own a baby, I accidentally filmed the meerat at the Brazilian zoo
The meerkat, pronounced Vietnamese as a mongoose (Suricata suricatta), also known as the civet, the mink, the African mink, the lake, the mink is a small mammal, a member of the mongoose family and the only species of the genus Suricata. Meerkat lives in all areas of the Kalahari desert in Botswana and South Africa. These animals live in flocks, each flock has about 20 to 30 meerkat, each individual has up to 50 children. Meerkat has an average life span of 12-14 years
Meerkat is a small carnivorous species feeding during the day, weighing an average of 0.5 to 2.5 kilograms (1.1 to 5.5 lb). The body and legs are long and slender, with a body length of 35 to 50 centimeters (14 to 20 in) and a tail length of 25 centimeters (9.8 in). Their tail is not as hairy as other weasel species, but is fairly long and tapered, with dark brown or dark reddish tails, approximately the same length as the body. Meerkats use their tails to balance when standing on their hind legs. Their faces are pointed, pointed to the nostrils and brown in color. Around the eyes and ears are black patches, they have small crescent-shaped ears and can be closed to eliminate soil when excavating. Like the cat, the meerkat has two eyes looking forward and is capable of perceiving the danger of being hunted in wide areas when standing upright with hind legs to observe as well as alert the herd
Meerkats are small burrowing animals, living in large underground networks with multiple entrances which they leave only during the day, except to avoid the heat of the afternoon. They are very social creatures and they live in colonies together. Animals in the same group groom each other regularly. The alpha pair often scent-mark subordinates of the group to express their authority. There may be up to 30 meerkats in a group.
To look out for predators, one or more meerkats stand sentry, to warn others of approaching dangers. When a predator is spotted, the meerkat performing as sentry gives a warning bark or whistle, and other members of the group run and hide in one of the many holes they have spread across their territory.
Meerkats also babysit the young in the group. Females that have never produced offspring of their own often lactate to feed the alpha pair's young. They also protect the young from threats, often endangering their own lives. On warning of danger, the babysitter takes the young underground to safety and is prepared to defend them if the danger follows
