California Surf Town With Million Dollar Homes Is Threatened By Rising Sea Levels
  • 6 years ago
Business Insider has reported that California's beaches are threatened by erosion as sea levels continue to rise. Beach communities such as Santa Cruz are feeling these effects particularly hard. According to one University of California, Santa Cruz professor, the main beach in Santa Cruz is likely to disappear. Santa Cruz officials will use a $360,000 grant from the California Department of Transportation to find solutions to the beach erosion. In Santa Cruz, its famous surfing beaches and a 111-year-old oceanfront boardwalk are central to the city's economy and culture.
