South Korea's trade ministry submitted a bill to the National Assembly to ratify the revised FTA with the United States.
It was signed by the leaders of the two countries last month, and includes agreements concerning the Investor State Dispute Settlement procedures, anti-dumping measures and standards for car imports.
It also calls for Seoul to double its threshold for American car imports... from the current 25-thousand units under the condition that they conform to safety regulations equivalent to Korea's.
The parliament's ratification of the bill is the final domestic procedure required before the deal takes effect.
The government hopes to have all domestic procedures taken care of by the end of the year.
