Chopped-up pig intestines with wheat bread, known as Luzhuhuoshao, may sound unusual, but it’s a traditional local delicacy in Beijing. It originated from the Nanheng street in the south of Beijing. Its predecessor is another Chinese cuisine whose name is "Suzaorou". It is said that during the period of Guangxu emperor in Qing dynasty, Suzaorou cooked by streaky pork was so expensive that normal Chinese people hardly afford it, so instead, Chinese people have been using pork intestines, pork lungs during that period. Gradually, more and more people tried to eat this way. Nowadays, it is still popular in Beijing.
